Relationships Matter: Who Have You Called Today?

Challenge Series: Relationships #01

Relationships are weird, aren’t they? One day we’re close with some people and the next we lost touch? I’d heard it growing up in middle school, again in high school, and then again after college. “It was a myth”, I thought.

It wasn’t until I had met my wife, we started our life together and our careers began to take off that I finally understood.

Relationship Status

I had maintained adequate contact with my friends over the years but then “adulting” caught up. Long hours at work, side interests and careers, and family has taken up all my time – and energy.

“Hey… it’s been a while hasn’t it?”

Some days I don’t even know how I made it from home to the office. The health of my relationships began to decline.

Your Challenge This Week

Your challenge this week is to call someone today on the phone to just chit-chat. Catch up for a few minutes or an hour. Don’t make it about business and make it meaningful. Whether it be family or a close friend, make the effort to reconnect with someone this week.

It’s easy to get sucked into daily priorities, schedules, and time management. Foster the relationships you have and learn to develop them as you continue to personally develop.
